I’m so glad you’ve joined me today.
If this is your first visit to The Celebration of God Podcast, I’m so glad you’ve decided to give us a listen. We are dedicated to elevating the glory of God in all of our minds so that we will become better disciples of His, and . . . so that we can help others do the same. So, if you want to know how The Year Long Celebration of God works, I encourage you to visit CelebrationOfGod.com and listen to our introductory episodes that are linked on the front page. They will teach you nearly everything you need to know about The Year Long Celebration of God and how you can benefit from it. And today is a short episode that helps us approach the new month with intentionality and direction. Even though I’m the guy who created The Celebration of God, it’s really easy for me to get distracted and sidetracked. I forget to update my Celebration Wall, I get bogged down in the ridiculous details of my trivial day to such a degree that I take my eyes off Christ and forget that He should be the center of my very existence. So, if I can forget the Celebration of God . . . we all can. And, yeah, I understand how arrogant that could have sounded. My point is, I created the discipleship program that is The Year Long Celebration of God, I host the podcast, so you’d think I might be the last person to forget about it’s place in my life. But I do. I was not trying to say that since I worship God better than everyone else does, if I don’t worship Him properly, then you better believe everyone else fails too. Yeah, you get my point. Well, before we jump into our material today, I just want to introduce all of you to Evermind Ministries. I started Evermind Ministries back in 2007, and the first of those ministries was a blog called Taking Back the Bible. Then in 2016 Truth.Love.Family. was added, and The Year Long Celebration of God joined the family in 2020. And just this year we’ve added Faithtree Biblical Counseling & Discipleship. Each of these ministries is designed to keep God’s truth at the center of our daily experience. Each strives to help us learn about God, obey His Word, and repeat that every day. This year we’re highlighting the Evermind family of ministries more and more, building its web presence, and trying to connect more people to God’s absolute truth. Very soon, you’ll be able to check out EvermindMinistries.com and access our growing collection of biblical resources. And, for The Celebration of God, that includes free episode notes, transcripts, and tons of worship resources. And you can find a link to all of that in the description of today’s episode. And now let’s talk about God’s place in February. Topic
First, I want to talk about February holidays. Then I want to discuss how we can approach this month given that it’s the end of the Season of Grace. And then I want to share some other practical encouragements for worshipping God in February.
Alright, let’s start with the holidays. As most of you know, Valentine’s Day is on the 14th. In preparation for giving God the preeminence of Valentines, I encourage you to consume our free Valentine’s resources at CelebrationOfGod.com. Just click on the holidays and select Valentines. You’ll find podcast episodes, checklists, Bible Readings, and more. God’s love is a wondrous facet of His grace to us, and I find that my yearly February meditation on God’s love is always a necessary reminder. One of the resources you’ll find at CelebraitonOfGod.com is a PDF called “How Do We Know If We Love God?” It’s such an amazing resource. But if you live in Canada, you not only have Valentine’s Day, you also have Family Day on the 17th. You too can check out our Family Day resources. Just go to CelebrationOfGod.com, and you will find it listed with the other holidays in the Season of Power. So, there, you go, you already have two wonderful ways to adore God and celebrate His grace in February. And, speaking of His grace, as I already mentioned, this is the last month of the Season of Grace. Lord willing, you have been deepening your knowledge and understanding of God’s ceaseless grace and you are living in those realities as we speak. Well, make sure you consciously and intentionally continue your study and daily application of His grace. And that will include our seasonal focus on glorification. Yes, glorification is the fourth phase of our salvation where God will remove our sin natures so that we can celebrate Him perfectly for all eternity. Talk about giving us something we don’t deserve! How awesome is that?! If you — like I — look back over December and January and you realize that you neglected to immerse yourself in a study of glorification like you originally planned, we still have all of February to learn more about it, praise God for it, and live in the reality of it. One of the key aspects of our future glorification is to be maturing toward it here and now. Though we won’t be able to achieve perfection this side of eternity, we please the Lord when we make that our goal to His glory and in His power. Now, in just two weeks, I’m going to be talking about Celebrating God in March. I’m starting so early because it’s not just a new month, it’s a new celebratory season, and the first holiday is lent which starts on March 2nd. So, there will be a lot to do to prepare for all of that, and I want to make sure you have time. So, in a very real way, preparing for March is another way that we can give God the preeminence in the month of February. And, now, let me bring this episode to a close by talking about how we can worship God on the non-holy days of February. First, I want to invite you to check out our podcast series page at CelebrationOfGod.com. There is so much biblical treasure being unpacked in each of those episodes, and every one of them are designed to equip you to become a better disciple of Christ every day of the year. For example, we just finished up our Discipleship Spiral Series which traces the lifelong journey of a Disciple of Christ. And one of the best things about the series is how it dissects four of God’s key expectations for all disciples. But we also have individual episodes that can be a blessing for you. No doubt, at some point in the month of February you are going to enjoy some down time, some recreation, or even vacation. Well, we did an episode called Celebrating God with Recreation, and it will equip you to view your down time through the lens of Scripture so that you can elevate the Lord — even in your entertainment. We also have a growing library of resource about how to disciple the individuals God brings into your life. Think about how many opportunities February affords for you to invest in the spiritual life and maturity of others. It would be a great month to start some new discipleship relationships and share the Gospel with unbelievers so that they too can become followers of Christ. Then there’s church. Listen, it took me way too long to truly understand that church really wasn’t so much about me as it was about God and what He wanted to accomplish in me. We have a series called Celebrating God at Church that should help you better appreciate when God commands us to assemble with other believers. Conclusion
And there is so much more.
For some of you, God wants you to parent your children for life and godliness. The Truth.Love.Parent. podcast exists to help you grow in that discipline. Perhaps you are a biblical counselor or teacher or pastor who regularly counsels and one-anothers and trains people. You too can benefit from the various resources we’ve created to help you be able to sharpen others with greater spiritual success. Maybe you’re a cashier or a steam-fitter or contractor who struggles knowing how to pray without ceasing while at work or how to keep your eyes on Christ when you’re so easily distracted by the task in front of you or how to be a light for God in the workplace. Well, we want to assist you in any and every way possible. So, please feel free to send an email to [email protected] so we can talk about how we can equip you to be a more mature disciple of Christ. And — with that — I will ask you to please share this episode on your favorite social media outlets so that other disciples of Christ can prepare to have a wonderful, Christ-centered February, and please plan to join us next time as we seek to better know, love, and worship God as well as help the people in our lives do the same. To that end, we’ll be discussing the fact that — whether you like it or not — You’re Always Making Disciples. However, that fact will either be Christ-honoring or completely disastrous.
