The Settlers of Catan Series

Type: Settlers is an area-control, city-building Eurogame that utilizes a tile board you create. One cool thing about this game is that it can be unique every time you play. Players collect resources and earn points by building settlements, roads, and cities. Additional points can be earned and actions created by purchasing Development Cards.
This was the first Eurogame the Schlipphaks introduced to the Brewster family. They loved it so much, Aaron bought the base game for his sister as a wedding gift. Little children will enjoy elements of the game, but it can't truly be appreciated until they get a little older. Strategies are various, but they are limited by the roll of the die. Settlers is interesting in that the game factors in the unique probabilities of each number being rolled.
Please not that the 5-6 player extensions require the base game to play.
