Introduction

Welcome to a new month filled with brand new opportunities for celebrating our great God. I pray your participation in The Year Long Celebration of God is sharpening you and helping you to burn brighter for Him.

And now let’s talk about pleasing God in May.

Topic

Alright, for starters, May is the final month in the Season of Life. So, we all get one more month to meditate on and revel in the biblical realities of physical and spiritual life.

Also, this is our final month to study justification together. I pray you have learned a lot about the beauty of justification, and I look forward to studying it more with you in the future.

But — though we may be coming to the end of the Season of Life — we’re not done yet.

Now, the first celebratory holiday on the list is actually still Easter. Yes . . . Easter.

Though it’s normal for most Protestants to dedicate only one day to Easter, there are actually 50 days of Eastertide that run from Resurrection Sunday through Pentecost.

Now, because Easter is as variable as it is, things change from year to year. But — generally speaking, May gets to continue the Easter festivities. In fact, if I did my math correctly, even when Easter falls on its earliest date, Pentecost will never happen in April. That means that whether it’s part of the month or the whole month, we can always celebrate Easter in May.

Now, for those of you uncertain about this whole Eastertide thing, we did an episode about it, so I’ll include a link for that in today’s description. However, the key thing to remember is that each of the Seven Sundays of Easter get to be celebrated with the same gusto and fervor that Resurrection Sunday was. 

Have friends over for lunch and continue your Easter celebration. Dig deeper into your Bible reading and prayer times. Keep the Resurrection Songs playing! Don’t miss out on the best celebration of the year, and definitely don’t cut it short!

And during your Eastertide observances, there are two to three other special holidays that beautifully fit into the Season of Life.

The first is Mother’s Day which always falls on the second Sunday in May. 

It should be quite apparent how beautifully Mother’s Day is couched in the Season of Life. And we have number of resources that will help you prepare for, celebrate, and disciple during Mother’s Day.

The key thing is to make sure that you give honor where honor is due. That means that you should take the opportunity to honor your the mothers in your life, but don’t miss the fact that God is the one who ultimately needs to be thanked for mothers.

And I provide some great ways of doing that in the additional resources.

And then comes Ascension . . . another sorely ignored holiday among Protestants. We have two episodes that introduce Ascension as well as equip you to celebrate it to God’s honor and glory. And those will be linked in the description as well.

But the beauty of the Ascension is that is officially ushered in the Kingdom of God on earth. In so doing, Christ sat down at the right hand of the Father and set in motion the events that would culminate in Pentecost.

It’s very exciting, and it’s an incredibly important act of God filled with purpose and significance.

And then, finally, depending on the year, often Pentecost itself will land in May.

Pentecost is the Christian celebration of the formation of the Church. And — that’s right, you guessed it — we have a bunch of resources for you at CelebrationOfGod.com to help you really worship God to the best or your ability on Pentecost.

But, as always, the High Days aren’t nearly as numerous as the Low Moments, and both are the perfect time to worship the Lord.

That means that whether you’re at church, at work, at school, on vacation, or in a funeral home, there are a multitude of ways you can and should give God the preeminence in your life, and we have a growing library of free resources that will help you do just that.
